Killer whales are the ocean's top predators. In South Africa, they are best known for "eating great white sharks", but they also steal fish from long-line fisheries and hunt dolphins and even whales. So what do we know about killer whales around southern Africa? Dr Elwen will share some insights into recent research, exploring their population numbers, where they live, what they eat, and how they impact the local marine ecosystem. He will also address their impact on human activities like shark-cage diving and fishing.
