Prof. Carden advocates a transition to water sensitive cities that integrate diverse water sources, wastewater reuse, stormwater management, nature-based solutions, and community stewardship. Highlighting Cape Town’s ‘Day Zero’, she will show how crises can drive innovation and resilience. Sustainable water futures require ecological restoration, integrated planning, social justice, and collaborative governance to create resilient, inclusive and climate-adaptive urban water systems.
