About the event

Marine Animals of the Cape Peninsula

Georgina Jones (Southern Underwater Research Group)

26 June, Franschhoek Theatre, 18:30

From gigantic humpback whales to the exquisite minuteness of purple lady nudibranchs, the waters of the Cape Peninsula are crowded with marine life. Kelp forests shelter fishes, hide predatory octopuses, and provide homes for crabs and limpets. The sand is a bustle of wandering starfish, burrowing anemones and camouflaged klipfish. The reefs are home to sea fans, moss animals and snails, while open ocean visitors range from schools of common dolphins to yellowtail and ghostly jellies. It's a world of colour, variety, and a vibrant parade of interesting and undiscovered species and behaviours.
