About the event
The Diversity of Marine Life: Adventures in Ecology, Evolution and Marine Science
George and Margo Branch
23 July, 18:30, Helderberg Nature Reserve
The sea is full of mysteries, but some of these secrets are now being explained by exciting developments in marine science. This talk will explore some of these mysteries, from sponge evolution to whale behaviour; why insects rule on land and crustaceans in the sea; and how complex organs such as eyes evolved. Seemingly diverse, these topics are held together by modern ecology, genetics, and evolution, knowledge of which would have delighted Darwin. The stories are a glimpse of a new book that George and Margo are busy writing on the diversity and evolution of marine life.
